Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area in Spruce Grove is a gorgeous location for an engagement photoshoot. This area is a scenic mixture of wooded areas and lakes. It attracts various birds and other wildlife, including moose, deer, beavers, and more. Chickakoo Lake Recreation Area spans over 480 acres of woodland and includes over 14 km of trails.
This recreation area has lots of natural light, acres of towering green spruces, grass areas, lush greenery, and sparkling lakes. This location would be ideal for a sunset photoshoot with the sun peeking through the trees.

Capilano Park and Boat Launch is a popular spot just downstream of the Edmonton downtown core. On beautiful summer days, you will see several boat trailers parked on the road down to the boat launch. The boat launch resides on the East end of Capilano Park and borders directly onto Gold Bar Park, where there are hiking trails and ski trails during the winter.
This area has an abundance of greenery, a picnic area, and a paved parking lot. The park features bridges, foliage, dirt trails, rocks, and peaceful waters. All in all, this is a beautiful location for engagement photos, tranquil and secluded from crowds.

St. Albert Botanic Park is a stunning garden dedicated to collecting, cultivating, and displaying a wide variety of plants labeled with their scientific names. This volunteer-operated park is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The gardens include the Shade Garden, Crabapple Lane, Restful Garden, Dahlias, Heritage Garden, Cottage Garden, Peonies, Asiatic Lilies, and more.
Each themed garden has gorgeous blooms and makes the perfect backdrop for engagement photography. Colorful flowers, bird baths, stone benches, brick walls, fountains, meandering pathways, and patio areas are ideal locations for stunning photos. You and your photographer must book professional sessions in advance through the park’s rental office.
University of Alberta

This beautiful botanic garden at the University of Alberta is a place of relaxation, rejuvenation, and enjoyment. Located just 15 minutes southwest of Edmonton, this “garden in a forest” allows visitors to enjoy the beauty of nature in a tranquil, natural setting. The botanic garden includes cultural gardens, northern climate-hardy plant collections, and extensive natural areas on 80 walkable acres.
Couples and photographers must book all photography sessions in advance. Gardens include the Aga Khan Garden, Indigenous Garden, Indoor Showhouses, Kurimoto Japanese Garden, Patrick Seymour Alpine Garden, and the University of Alberta Botanic Garden collections. Features include geometric architecture, ponds, wild berries, bridges, lanterns, teahouses, herb and sensory gardens, lilies, lilacs, peonies, rocky pathways, and towering trees.
