The St. Albert Botanic Park is a botanical garden committed to collecting, cultivating, and displaying various plants labeled with their scientific names. This park is volunteer-operated and is free to the public. Furthermore, the gardens are open to visitors daily from sunrise to sunset.

The park has a variety of different themed gardens and is a beautiful location for an enchanting proposal. Couples can celebrate their big moment nestled amongst vibrant blooms, meandering pathways, towering trees, unique architectural details, and more!

The Garden

The St. Albert Botanical Garden features many different plants and flowers throughout the year. So, be sure to time your proposal based on what you’d like to see blooming! Crabapple Lane has gorgeous pink and white blossoms covering trees in mid-May. Additionally, Lilac Lane has the most extensive collection of lilacs in western Canada, and these bloom from late May to mid-June. 

The Rose Garden features hybrid tea roses and a fountain, and blooms are most vibrant during the summer months. The Cottage Garden is beautiful at any time of year, with ever-changing blooms. The Shade Garden features an interesting compilation of hardy plants that do not require full sun exposure. Other collections include peonies, Asiatic lilies, daylilies, hydrangeas, and dahlias. 

The Welcome Garden has ever-changing displays, carefully chosen trees and shrubs, and colorful annuals, making it an excellent location for photos and the perfect tucked-away area for a sweet proposal.

The St. Albert Botanic Park is a stunning, peaceful oasis of trees, flowers, and pastoral scenery, making it an ideal venue for an intimate proposal. The circular Rose Garden features a beautiful granite fountain and hundreds of fragrant roses that bloom in the summertime. Moreover, the Rose Garden would be the perfect spot to pop the question! 

The trellis, gazebo, and adjacent Shade Garden are also beautiful locations for a proposal and make exquisite backdrops for captivating photos of the special moment. Couples can walk through Crabapple Lane to the Cottage Garden, with ample opportunities for photos! Crabapple Lane features many ornamental flowering crabapples, grasses, and dirt pathways. The Cottage Garden contains benches, arbors, paved walkways, and a fairy garden, making it a beautiful spot for a proposal or engagement photos.
